Session Description
Despite tremendous technological advances during the past several decades, audiological and otological “best practice” has remained somewhat resistant to automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and the use of sensors to improve patient outcomes. This expert panel discussion will focus on how innovation is playing an important role in the way that hearing and balance care is being provided for adults and children, while preserving the important function of both art AND science in achieving outstanding clinical outcomes. Audience participation is strongly encouraged.
Session Objectives
Attendees will be able to: 1. Discuss three ways that Artificial intelligence (AI) is already being incorporated in audiological and otolaryngological practice to improve patient outcomes 2. List three barriers or challenges facing the use of technology 3. Describe new genetic testing processes available for newborn hearing screening 4. Identify challenges with current clinical trials involving hearing regeneration
