Dr Edmund Farrar is co-founder and CEO of Oto, a digital therapeutic for tinnitus. A former Royal Air Force physician and surgical resident, he has extensive clinical and research experience, with peer-reviewed publications and award-winning presentations at international conferences. He co-founded Oto after seeing how poorly served tinnitus patients were once the medical workup came back clear. Under his leadership Oto ran the DEFINE trial with the University of Cambridge, the world’s first randomized controlled trial comparing smartphone-delivered CBT against one-to-one tinnitus therapy, in which the app arm matched the therapist arm on the Tinnitus Functional Index. He works with ENT and audiology practices on how tinnitus care is actually built and run: pathway design, patient triage, follow-up cadence, and outcome measurement inside a working clinic.
