About Christopher Nickel
Dr. Christopher Nickel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Nickel's clinical expertise is in the management of head and neck oncologic disease. As such, he specializes in the excision of head and neck tumors, microvascular reconstruction with a focus on restoration of function and cosmesis, and minimally invasive transoral robotic surgery (TORS) for the management of oropharyngeal cancer, and complex endocrine surgery.
Dr. Nickel received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Finally, he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction at Emory University.
Dr. Nickel’s research interests include healthcare disparities in head and neck oncologic patients, quality of life optimization in head and neck cancer survivors, and systems-based quality improvement initiatives. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Nickel holds professional memberships with the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Head and Neck Society, and the Florida Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
